In Malavagoppa, under the collective leadership of the Karnataka State Farmers' Association and Hasiru Sene, an indefinite protest and satyagraha was initiated, demanding that an immediate meeting of the Bhadra Reservoir Irrigation Advisory Committee be convened. The protestors insisted that water should be released to the canals on both the right and left banks of the Bhadra from January 1st onwards.
