Sharada Pooryanaik, the elected MLA of Shivamogga Rural for two terms, was born in a village near Shikaripura. From a young age, she developed qualities of creativity, friendship, and helpfulness. After completing her undergraduate education, Sharada Pooryanaik supported her husband's goals and achievements during significant phases of their life together. Her political journey began when she entered local elections, eventually serving in the Zilla Panchayat. With the support of the people and her efficient work, she climbed the political ladder and became the MLA of Shivamogga Rural. Sharada's political career began in 1999 when she was elected as a member of the Harnahalli Zilla Panchayat, where she served until 2010. Notably, she served as the President of the Zilla Panchayat during 2007-08. Her political journey, which started in local governance, culminated in her 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election victory, where she contested from the Shivamogga Rural constituency on a Janata Dal (Secular) ticket and secured a win.
