Sharada Pooryanaik, the elected MLA of Shivamogga Rural for two terms, was born in a village near Shikaripura. From a young age, she developed qualities of creativity, friendship, and helpfulness. After completing her undergraduate education, Sharada Pooryanaik supported her husband's goals and achievements during significant phases of their life together. Her political journey began when she entered local elections, eventually serving in the Zilla Panchayat. With the support of the people and her efficient work, she climbed the political ladder and became the MLA of Shivamogga Rural. Sharada's political career began in 1999 when she was elected as a member of the Harnahalli Zilla Panchayat, where she served until 2010. Notably, she served as the President of the Zilla Panchayat during 2007-08. Her political journey, which started in local governance, culminated in her 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election victory, where she contested from the Shivamogga Rural constituency on a Janata Dal (Secular) ticket and secured a win.

In addition to her political career, Sharada Pooryanaik has also served as the President of several educational institutions, contributing significantly to the field of education. During her tenure as an MLA, she implemented numerous development projects through persistent efforts. A key achievement in her political journey was the Tunga Lift Irrigation Project, which provided water to many villages and agricultural lands, marking a major milestone in her career. Although she faced a narrow defeat in the 2018 Legislative Assembly elections, Sharada Pooryanaik did not sit idle. She continued to assist the people of her constituency by addressing their struggles and maintaining strong relationships with them. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked tirelessly within her constituency, helping people navigate the difficult circumstances and ensuring their well-being. Her constant efforts to build trust with the people of her constituency paid off, as she secured a victory in the 2023 Legislative Assembly elections. Once again, she took office as the MLA, becoming the voice of the people in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and advocating for their concerns and issues.
